Although I’ve always been in the team Laurie Goode camp I have heard over the years that a number of different actors have claimed to be the Stormtrooper that bumps its head on the door in A New Hope as seen here.

As reported last year on Fantha Tracks Jamie Stangroom is now attempting to get to the bottom of the mystery and will present his team’s findings in a new documentary titled Empire Strikes Door.

A UK documentary crew will try to solve a Star Wars mystery that’s baffled experts for decades – namely, the identity of the Storm Trooper performer who banged his head on a Death Star door. Important stuff, we’re sure you’ll agree.

The moment being investigated in Empire Strikes Door is an iconic blooper. There’s a reference to it in the prequel trilogy (when Jango bangs his head on Slave I’s door in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones), with an added sound effect in the special editions to underline the moment. But, until now, the identity of the actor has remained a secret.

Check out the trailer here

As you can see Kevin Smith and Greg Grunberg are on the case too and we look forward to see this in its entirety on September 25th.
