TODAY IN STAR WARS HISTORY: 12/8/1950

Creature Effects artist Rick Baker was born. So we want to wish him a big 71st birthday!

Multi-Academy Award winner, Rick Baker, was a makeup artist and supplied many creatures for the additional Cantina filming for Star Wars. He is also uncredited for playing the Cantina band member, Figrin D’an.
Several of his ‘thrown together’ Cantina character designs became the basis for future Star Wars characters.
