TODAY IN STAR WARS HISTORY: 12/9/1977

Ralph McQuarrie meets with George Lucas to show him the first production painting for The Empire Strikes Back. Lucas was looking for a place to put the Dark Lord’s office so he requested to see a metal castle in the snow. Lucas then asked McQuarrie for more exploration and now wanted to see Vader’s castle in a lava environment.

TODAY IN STAR WARS HISTORY: 12/9/1977
