Documentary filmmaker Eric Patrick Cameron has managed to pull off quite the coup, sitting down with The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson to discuss Star Wars, Episode 8 and the impact it had on the Emerald Isle. The documentary is The Space Western of the Southwest, and you can watch it now on Vimeo.

EVENT: A Star Wars documentary featuring a brand new, exclusive interview with Academy Award-nominated Rian Johnson (writer/director, Star Wars: Episode VIII- The Last Jedi) has been released and is now available to watch online for free. Directed by Eric Patrick Cameron (writer/director, Magical Mystery Toy), the film was made in Ireland and focuses on the impact Star Wars had on the “Emerald Isle” and how the people of Ireland left a lasting impact on a galaxy far, far away.

BACKGROUND: Eric Patrick Cameron is a New York-based film director known for Magical Mystery Toy (2023) and The Space Western of the Southwest (2023). Some of his background acting credits include: Avengers: Endgame (2019); Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019); Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022); Maestro (2023); and Mean Girls (2024). The Space Western of the Southwest had its world premiere in Dingle, Ireland at the “Féile na Bealtaine” arts festival on April 30, 2023. The documentary held its US premiere at “Fan Expo Boston” on August 5, 2023. The film was also an official selection at the “May the 4th Sci-Fi Film Festival” in Portmagee, Ireland and the “Orlando Film Festival” in Orlando, Florida. In early 2024, the film is scheduled to screen at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre as part of the “Hollyshorts Film Festival” monthly screenings. The film features an original score composed by Paul Richard Keegan (composer, Magical Mystery Toy). The running time of The Space Western of the Southwest is 35 minutes.
