Why has Ryan Gosling chosen Star Wars as his first franchise? “it is like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity”

It’s a fair question; after being connected to numerous major franchises over the years, and having never returned to a character during his cinematic career, why did Ryan Gosling choose Star Wars as his first franchise and leap into the galaxy far, far away? Gizmodo look at the variables, as well as – while doing promotion for next month’s Project: Hail Mary – asking Gosling a question about next May’s standalone (for now) GFFA adventure.

“It was Shawn’s enthusiasm and his vision and the script,” Gosling told io9. “And I just avoided these things because they never felt right. And I’m glad I did because I feel like, [similar to] a book like this, [it was] worth waiting for. And it is like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Of course, there are a number of reasons why he chose Star Wars (one of which is the possibility that his character doesn’t make it to the credits), but given the very positive buzz the film is getting from all quarters, let’s hope we’ll be seeing Ryan in future films and at Celebrations for years to come.
