Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz in from of a live audience at the recent C2E2 convention in Chicago, John Boyega was asked about a number of subjects, from whether he’d play Bishop in the MCU to exactly how broke he was when he got the call to play Finn in The Force Awakens. He was also asked about the forthcoming New Jedi Order film starring Daisy Ridley, and this is what he had to say.

“I miss Daisy, I haven’t seen Daisy face-to-face in a minute… I found out [about Daisy’s return] online. Being a genuine fan, I’m online, I watch reaction videos, I’m on the subscriber lists. I get the emails, as if I’m not in the films – you know, Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes out… oh, does it?

It made sense to expand the franchise in that way. I’m just looking forward, first of all to see if it’s real, because we have had a few Star Wars announcements – you know, in development, they can’t quite get it done. I’m just hoping that Daisy gets that chance to shine in a franchise that’s finally hers, as a Jedi that’s fully qualified, I can’t wait to watch it. I really can’t. I’m happy for her.”

While many observers and commentators will take that as proof he’s not involved, Boyega is a savy operator; even if he’d signed the greatest deal in Hollywood history, he wouldn’t say. Check out more below from John on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz.
