Feeling back at home at SDCC was different for everyone; for me it was the Lucasfilm Publishing panel.

The panel featured eight current authors and their current or upcoming releases:

Kristin Baver (Timelines), Cecil Castellucci (Star Wars: Moving Target), Adam Christopher (Shadow of the Sith), Claudia Gray (The High Republic: The Fallen Star), George Mann (The High Republic: Quest for the Hidden City), Beth Revis (The Princess and the Scoundrel), Cavan Scott (The High Republic: The Rising Storm), and Kiersten White (Padawan). Moderated by Lucasfilm’s Michael Siglain.

Beth and Kiersten both shared their excitement of their upcoming releases. Kiersten’s book Padawan had an early release at SDCC and she shared how she got into the headspace of a younger Obi-Wan and how she had discussions with Mike Chen who recently released his book Brotherhood.

Beth gave some teases about what readers can expect from various characters involved in Leia and Han in the upcoming The Princess and the Scoundrel. Both also shared the freedom they had in exploring certain aspects of their stories.

Cavan, Claudia and George Mann gave audience reveals on some of covers and content of books from The High Republic phase II. The authors gave cryptic lines from their books. Claudia Gray’s quote “The price of life is death” caused quite a stir. George Mann discussed his audio drama and the state of the planet Jedha 150 years before the first wave of The High Republic. He shared that the multitude of religions on Jedha during this time meant the Jedi weren’t as influential as they desired.

Cavan rounded out The High Republic coverage by showcasing the mindset of the new Padawan/Master relationship of the two main characters of the series. The panel also shared a beautiful poster showcasing the second part of the initiative’s poster titled The Quest of the Jedi.

Adam Christopher talked about the canon additions he made with his Bestselling novel Shadow of the Sith, including getting to officially name Rey’s parent’s.

Cecil got to see completed pages from her upcoming Hyperspace Stories all ages comic from Dark Horse. These stories will have rotating creatives and be set in different time periods of the saga.

Cavan is also working on a series called Tales from the Rancor Pit, a series of chilling tales set in Jabba’s palace.

Kristin Baver shared her next nonfiction book is focused on a history of 100 Star Wars objects. There is also a special Life Day book coming for the holidays that includes a pop out tree and various ornaments to celebrate the season.

It’s a great time to be a fan of Star Wars books.

Thanks to our Fantha Tracks reporter @YogiKai for all the news from SDCC, and be sure to look back at the #FTSDCC hashtag for more from the show.
