Writing over at Youtini, Graham Hancock takes an in-depth look at the legend of Luke Skywalker.
With minimal screen time and a single look, Mark Hamill portrayed a rollercoaster of emotions, while leaving the balance completely open to the viewer’s interpretation. The actor imbued Luke’s eyes with regret, confusion, hope and resolve. With the knowledge that the character would have a larger role in The Last Jedi, fans began to imagine how the character might have evolved in the years since Return of the Jedi.
When the answer came, it surprised fans. Not only did Luke Skywalker have no desire to return to the fight, he had also completely cut himself off from the Force. He had left his friends and family, and he intended to wait for death in isolation on Ahch-To with the Jedi Order and his legacy dying beside him.
