In what has to be one of the most surprising reveals in recent Star Wars history – that Adam Driver and Steven Soderbergh had developed a Ben Solo film to the point of Lucasfilm taking it to Disney for approval to progress – the very public post mortem continues, and Soderbergh has had much to say (without saying anything about the plot of the film). First off, here’s what he said in a statement to the Associated Press.

“I really enjoyed making the movie in my head. I’m just sorry the fans won’t get to see it.”

Then he took to Bluesky

“For the record, I did not enjoy lying about the existence of THE HUNT FOR BEN SOLO, but it really did need to remain a secret…until now!”

Soderbergh posted a follow up post to Bluesky.

“Also, in the aftermath of the HFBS situation, I asked Kathy Kennedy if LFL had ever turned in a finished movie script for greenlight to Disney and had it rejected. She said no, this was a first.”

That final post is arguably the most surprising of them all, and we’ll be sure to discuss this and much more on this weeks episode of Making Tracks.
