Bob Iger announced yesterday that The Walt Disney Company are donating $1 million dollars towards the relief effort in the wake of the devastation wrought by Hurricane Michael.

The Walt Disney Company announced Thursday that it was donating $1 million to aid in relief efforts for Hurricane Michael, the devastating Category 4 storm that caused an estimated $8 billion in uninsured damage and caused about a million customers to lose power.

Additionally, donations from Disney employees will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the company via its Disney Employee Matching Gifts program.

The donation will go to the Florida Disaster Fund managed by the Volunteer Florida Foundation to support recovery and disaster relief efforts.

“The families and communities impacted by this devastating hurricane need our help as they begin to rebuild,” chairman and CEO Bob Iger said in a statement. “Through today’s $1 million contribution, and other relief efforts in the weeks and months ahead, we will stand with our Gulf Coast neighbors as they recover from this tragic storm.”
