Back in the days before computer imagery and pre-visualization, the only available manner of conveying a concept was by pencil, ink or paint. Thankfully for George Lucas, he crossed paths with the man who created the visual language of Star Wars – Ralph McQuarrie – and together they created a selection of images, made famous in the iconic Star Wars Portfolio, which persuaded Alan Ladd Jr. of 20th Century Fox to take a punt on this little fancied space fantasy epic.

Watch this hugely impressive video, designed and executed by The Dave School, bring those initial McQuarrie designs to life.

Amazing video based on Ralph Mcquarrie work, the conceptual artist and American artist hired by George Lucas in the 70s to give life on paper to the Star Wars’ imaginary world.
