Yesterday, the Walt Disney Company held an investors event detailing some key features and content that’ll come with Disney+, their upcoming streaming service.

The key facts are these – it shall be released in the United States on the 12th November and will cost $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year. Subscribers will also be able to set up individual profiles for those in the home and parental controls will automatically be set up for a child’s account.

We also gained some insight into the visuals of Disney+. There are five areas for Disney’s huge franchises, Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and the newly acquired National Geographic. The whole look has a very similar feel to Netflix with recommendations also at the top.

Specifically around Star Wars, it was confirmed that The Mandalorian, the first ever live action series based in the galaxy far far away will be launched at release and that Alan Tudyk will be returning as K-2SO in the spy drama that also has Diego Luna as Cassian Andor once more. The show runner and executive producer will be Stephen Schiff (The Americans) and the show will begin in 2021.

As for a more global release of Disney+ no specific dates were given, however they do have some plan as shown by the graphic below. Luckily the graphic is in fiscal quarters so Western Europe and the Asia Pacific territories should get it by the end of March next year at the latest.

It would be no surprise if more details are given over the weekend with the potential of new series’ being announced. Our very own Matt Booker met Doug Chiang on the con floor and confirmed he’s working on The Mandalorian season two.

Matt enjoys discovering the Galaxy Far Far Away and has attempted to explore as much of it as possible, from Coruscant to the Unknown Regions with bookcase quickly filling up with the books and trade paperbacks (much to the chagrin of his wife)!
