Author Christian Blauvelt talks with StarWars.com about his new book Star Wars Made Easy, giving readers – specifically those new to the saga – the chance to ease themselves into the Star Wars story.

StarWars.com: Star Wars Made Easy pulls together the basics to understanding what Star Wars is all about. Who is this book for?

Christian Blauvelt: To paraphrase Obi-Wan, Star Wars Made Easy is about helping you take your first step into a larger world — the world of Star Wars. It’s for newbies to the saga, who maybe have seen some of the films but not all or maybe none of them, and want to know what all the fuss is about. And make sense of all of the in-universe lingo that fans love. If you don’t know the difference between a Jedi or a Jawa or between a wampa and a Wookiee, this book is for you. It’s for new fans who want to learn more about Star Wars, but don’t really know where to start — there’s a lot of Star Wars storytelling out there and this will help you navigate your way around the galaxy. Not to mention that it’ll help you make sense of all the Star Wars references in other films and TV shows that have been made over the past 40 years since A New Hope was released. Having Star Wars literacy means having pop culture literacy.
