Move over Kenobi, the other Star Wars film to switch to a series has found a home on SyFy Wire. Looking For Leia will debut in its 7-part entirety on 21st December on SYFY.com, VOD, YouTube and NBCU’s OneApp, with two episodes airing back-to-back on the SYFY television network.
The 10-15-minute episodes showcase several female-centric aspects of this fandom about a galaxy far, far away. From the legacy of the late Carrie Fisher, to droid builders and makers, to creators of fashion, art, and jewelry, and to genre authors who were inspired by the beloved franchise, Looking for Leia tells the stories of women and nonbinary fans whose lives have been changed by Star Wars.
Through conversations with fans like SYFY FANGRRLS’ own contributing editors Preeti Chhibber and Swapna Krishna, Hugo Award-winning author Charlie Jane Anders, author Bonnie Burton, voice actors Clarissa Yazzie and Geri Hongeva, and others, the series offers a much-needed look at some of the fandom’s most overlooked corners.
