As The Call of the Wild opens in cinemas with a $24,791,624 opening weekend (the biggest opening weekend in the history of 20th Century Studios no less), Harrison Ford is on the promotional trail and while discussing the movie he remembered some good advice from friend and former director George Lucas.
“George Lucas used to have – as a director, would often say at the end of a take, ‘OK, do another one,’ and [I would] say, ‘Well, what would – do you want me to change something?’ And George would say, ‘Same thing, only better.'”
Good advice for anyone doing anything. On the subject of The Call of the Wild, Ford discussed a human – Terry Notary – playing Buck the dog rather than a real animal.
“I’m very, very good at not seeing him as a human. But I see him as a dog. I mean, because I’ve had dogs in my life, I remember the experience I’m playing. I’m treating him like I would treat a dog and he’s treating me as a dog might, emotionally. And so that contact, that’s very helpful. Very important.”
