In any other franchise you could be forgiven for loudly exclaiming ‘Duh!’ at such a comment, given his heroic death and physical disappearance at the end of The Rise of Skywalker but this is Star Wars, a galaxy where even slain Jedi can reappear as Force ghosts or visions (to say nothing of flashbacks), but speaking on a recent episode of the Smartless podcast, Adam Driver made it clear that his time in the Star Wars galaxy is over.

“They’re doing stuff, but not with me. I’m not doing any more,” Driver said. He followed up the question “You’re done because the character’s done?” with a yes.

We’ve heard very similar quotes from Star Wars actors before, most recently from Liam Neeson who clearly stated that he’d only return to Star Wars if it was in a film, then weeks later was back as Qui-Gon Jinn in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Harrison Ford was done with Star Wars before The Force Awakens, so never say never but – without any sniff of a story or script for Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Rey-focused 2026 film – for now his face turn in Episode IX would seem to be his final appearance.
