Daisy Ridley loved Rey from nowhere

Speaking with Sariah Wilson, Daisy Ridley revealed that during the making of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi her understanding was that Rey was ‘nobody’ – Rey from nowhere – something that revealed to not be the case by the time of The Rise of Skywalker.

With The Last Jedi leaving a number of threads to resolve – as every middle chapter does – the decision to have Rey’s lineage be that of a Palpatine steers away from this, but satisfies the familial reveals in the original trilogy (Vader being Luke’s father in Empire, Leia his twin sister in Jedi). Whether we ever see any further stories of Rey Skywalker remains to be seen.
