Diego Luna is busier than ever, coming off the back of the mega critical success of Star Wars: Andor, and speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about Ashes, his fifth feature as director – and with last year’s Kiss of the Spider Woman plus Disney’s live-action Tangled up ahead – he was inevitably asked about Andor, which he briefly discussed.

THR: Your Star Wars series, Andor, is beloved as well, so you’ve found a balance between massive projects and smaller ones.

DL: That independent drive was there. We were working on the project written by Tony Gilroy, and there was a very clear vision. That independent drive can happen in gigantic or very small productions. It’s about what’s propelling the project.

Luna also discussed his 20-year-long association with fashion brand Zegna, which he wore at the Cannes Film Festival last weekend.

THR: I found a Zegna campaign from 2007 that you starred in.

DL: Yes, I did a campaign for two years, or something close. It was a lot of photo shoots all around. I loved it because at the time, it was so new for me. I got to wear clothes and suits that were custom made and tailored for me, so everything fit like a glove. It was so cool. I even got to go to Italy a lot and meet with Zegna. My photo was everywhere, and my friends used to make fun of me when they saw my face at the bus stop or in subways. My friends sent me so many pictures of them posing in front of me. It was amazing. I wore those suits for a decade of my life.
