Speaking on Good Morning America this week Jon Favreau not only discussed The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett but also touched upon some of the other future projects, including two that he is involved with – Rangers of the New Republic and Ahsoka, and Favreau briefly mentioned when these new shows are set.
“Well there’s a lot of Star Wars content coming out, as I think they announced 10 projects, this would be 11 with The Book of Boba Fett, but the ones I’m involved with are… I’m working with my partner Dave Filoni who is this fantastic producing partner and writer, who I met when I did a voice on The Clone Wars. We met on Skywalker Ranch, and we’d worked together on this show.”
“He’s doing Ahsoka, which he’s writing right now, and we also have Rangers of the New Republic, and all of them take place in a similar timeline, here, which is right after Return of the Jedi.”
‘Right after Return of the Jedi‘ is a fairly loose comment, as The Mandalorian could be considered to be right after Jedi in terms of where the current shows lie, and with the four series – The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka and Legends of the New Republic – all taking place in a similar timeframe on their way to a crossover event, there’s every chance he could be referring to that half a decade after Endor era The Mandalorian is set in.
