Emmy season is on the way and the Star Wars: Andor team are keen for the 12-part first season to be at the forefront of people’s minds, and that was highlighted by yesterday’s Star Wars: Andor Season One ‘For Your Consideration’ Emmy event which saw stars from in front of and behind the camera including Diego Luna, Tony Gilroy, Fiona Shaw and Andy Serkis take questions in a Q & A.
Today, Disney+ released photos from an Emmy® FYC event in Los Angeles for the Peabody-Award-nominated “Andor,” featuring creator/showrunner, executive producer and writer Tony Gilroy (“Rogue One”, “Michael Clayton”, the Bourne trilogy) and executive producer Sanne Wohlenberg (“Chernobyl”), executive producer/star Diego Luna and guest actors Andy Serkis and Fiona Shaw (BAFTA TV nominee). The event included a screening of Episode 12, the finale of the highly acclaimed series, followed by a Q&A, which was moderated by Dan Fienberg, Chief TV Critic for The Hollywood Reporter.
Season 1 of “Andor” was met with widespread critical acclaim and garnered nominations for the show and/or its lead actor from the Writers Guild of America, Producers Guild of America, Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards as well as craft nominations from the Art Directors Guild, the Society of Composers and Lyricists, Motion Picture Sound Editors, Visual Effects Society and a win from the American Cinema Editors.
“Andor” Season 1, which debuted on Disney+ last fall, centered on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he could make against the backdrop of the rise of the Empire. Season 2, currently in production, will be the next steps in Cassian’s journey toward becoming a rebel leader, leading up to the events of “Rogue One.”
Season 1 showed Diego Luna returning as Cassian Andor and joined by cast members Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, Fiona Shaw, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis. The executive producers are Kathleen Kennedy, Tony Gilroy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna and Michelle Rejwan. Tony Gilroy is also the creator and showrunner.
