With members of Fantha Tracks podcasting since 5th October 2005 and our rapidly growing Fantha Tracks radio network posting 268 episodes since late 2018, how could we not be a part of the second annual Star Wars Podcast Day, taking place next year on 7th February, the 23rd anniversary of the very first recognised and available Star Wars podcast Jedi Talk in 1999.

Nathan P. Butler of Star Wars Fanworks, a site that for the longest time was the hub of fan audio, recorded this video for the first event earlier this year, giving some depth and detail to the long and sometimes forgotten history of Star Wars fan audio.

Here, Lucien Maier the creator of that first 1999 podcast Jedi Talk catches up with Dany Pépin and Sébastien Mineau of Star Wars En Direct to discuss those early, early days.

The inaugural running of the event on 7th February this year brought together 83 shows from 6 countries and 5 languages and the 2022 running hopes to bring together even more than that. Fantha Tracks are taking part as a network of shows – primarily Desert Planet Discs, Making Tracks and Planet Leia – and we’ll be discussing the big day and the importance of podcasts in forthcoming episodes of those shows.
