On April 18, 2026, the Arche Cukrownia Żnin in Poland hosted its third consecutive Star Wars Day celebration. Organized by the local fantasy club Klub Fantastyki “Druga Era” (the group also behind the major festival Pyrkon), the event has become a regular fixture for regional fans, drawing both casual attendees and prominent members of the Polish Star Wars community for a day of programming dedicated to the franchise.

The event offered a wide array of activities designed to accommodate various interests and age groups. The main stage hosted the day’s primary proceedings, including a formal opening, a “Jedi Academy” workshop utilizing foam lightsabers, and a cosplay competition open to attendees aged seven and older.

In the “Burakino” zone, the schedule focused on literature and engagement, featuring trivia quizzes for children and adults. A central highlight of this area was the ‘Meeting with Legends’ panel, featuring Rafał Przyborowski from Wydawnictwo Olesiejuk, a major publisher of Star Wars literature in Poland, and Magdalena “Cathia” Kozłowska—a well-known figure on the Polish convention circuit who serves as an editor for Star Wars publications, a frequent panellist, and an active member of the cosplay community.

The convention grounds were divided into multiple interactive and educational zones:

Gaming and Strategy: The “Strefa MiPBP” featured sessions for Star Wars: The Clone Wars board games, Shatterpoint and Legion table-top wargaming, and RPG sessions set in the Star Wars universe. An “Escapebox: Jedi Trial” was also available throughout the day.

Exhibits and Costuming: Attendees explored several interactive displays, including the Manda’Yaim Mandalorian village, the Rebel Legion Eagle Base, the Death Star Wall Project, and a dedicated exhibit of Queen Amidala costumes curated by ATAT Costume Art. Yeeti Cosplay provided a “Clone Armory” exhibit, while LEGO displays and workshops rounded out the visual offerings.

The event, held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of Żnin, relied on the collaboration of local fan organizations and contributors. With three successful iterations completed, the local fan community has indicated a strong desire for the event to continue as an annual tradition, solidifying the Arche Cukrownia Żnin as a consistent gathering point for Polish Star Wars enthusiasts.

Nenko Genov was born in Plovdiv and has been a Star Wars fan since the early 1990s, discovering the saga through worn-out bootleg VHS tapes and the occasional imported collectible in post-communist Bulgaria. During the early years of Bulgarian Star Wars fandom he was known among local fans as “Young_Jedi” and served as a librarian, hosting a humble collection of English-language Star Wars books for local fans to borrow. (Today his collection includes most of the Star Wars titles ever published and takes up his entire attic!) Nenko holds degrees in English Studies and Film & Television Arts, worked for five years in television production and short filmmaking, and has lived in Poland since 2011, where he currently works as an educator. He also runs a long-standing Bulgarian book blog, launched in 2016, and regularly takes part in workshops, conventions and panel discussions focused on literature, film, pop culture and the creative arts. Nenko is a published writer and the author of the award-winning Bulgarian “Farewell, Diary!” trilogy (“Сбогом, дневнико!”) and the steampunk fantasy novel “The Adventures of Captain Claude and the Sky Scoundrels” (“Приключенията на капитан Клод и Небесните негодяи”). Working across Bulgarian, English and Polish, he has translated and edited a wide range of projects, and since 2022 has translated all the Bulgarian editions of Star Wars comics, manga and picture books, while also consulting on Star Wars novel translations and publishing plans. In collaboration with local publishers and with approvals from Lucasfilm and Marvel, he also writes the forewords for Bulgarian editions of Star Wars comics.
