With the inductions taking place at Disney’s D23 fan event on 16th August at the Honda Center in Anaheim, and available to stream on Disney Plus, there’s plenty of GFFA related future Disney Legends being inducted at the ceremony, chief amongst them a man who is surely already a Disney Legend – Bob Iger – along with a fandom treasure in Alan Tudyk, and the man behind ‘Jabba Flow’ Lin‑Manuel Miranda, who’s contributions to Disney films (including Moana (2016), Encanto (2021), Mary Poppins Returns (2018), and Mufasa: The Lion King (2024)) make him an obvious choice (but mostly for ‘Jabba Flow’).

It was only days ago that Bob Iger officially stepped down as Chairman and CEO of Disney, but he’s already being honored by the company to which he gave six decades of his life.

Iger was first on the list announcing this year’s crop of Disney Legends. Dubbed the company’s highest honor, the designation goes to “people whose creativity has shaped Disney into what it is today.” Iger certainly qualifies.

Others on this year’s list: Susan Egan, Dwayne Johnson, Anne Hathaway and Alan Tudyk, for bringing “unforgettable characters to life on-screen and on-stage.” Jonas Brothers were included for their contribution to Disney music, Lin‑Manuel Miranda for “groundbreaking songwriting for modern Disney favorites” and Eric Goldberg for his “artistry and animation.”
