Bringing Ewan McGregor back into the Star Wars fold was no mean feat. While he expressed interest in revisiting the character, there was no guarantee that the writers could stick the landing and craft a compelling enough reason for him to get back in front of the cameras. Speaking with Empire magazine, he delved into where we meet Kenobi at the start of the series, something that clearly satisfied the award-winning actor.

“I really think taking the character to a broken place at the beginning of the series – and then having it be a series, having hours to tell the story. The way it sits between Episode III and Episode IV is really satisfying. We get to see Obi-Wan without his power. He’s out of the game, he’s totally rusty at the beginning. And he has to make the decision of whether he’s going to try and get back to where he was, or not.”
