Jimmy Vee wants a role in the world’s longest-running television soap opera

He may be best known to us as the man who now inhabits the role of R2-D2, but Jimmy Vee is keen to expand beyond the lovable astromech into other roles, earmarking a place on the cast of Coronation Street, the world’s longest-running television soap opera, as something he’d like to tackle.

Speaking with The Sun he explained why.

“No matter what size, what height you are, you can play a role. It’s just getting a director to put faith in you.

You don’t see many small people in Coronation Street and EastEnders. At the minute, Corrie has a battle going on with a family over money.

What’s to stop the likes of me coming in as the lender demanding my money back? I don’t need to be 6ft 10in.”

That’s tough to argue with, and with the current Corrie loan shark Rick apparently lying in a shallow grave after coming to blows with Gary Windass, maybe that loan shark role is available.
