The Last Jedi passes through $1 Billion worldwide

The Last Jedi has ended 2017 by smashing through the $1 Billion barrier.  Box Office Mojo reports that the film has now made $1,040,444,228.

This makes it the largest US Domestic Gross of the year at $517,144,228, the eight highest US Domestic of all time, and the third highest Star Wars film of all time just behind Rogue One, and of course The Force Awakens. It will be sure to bypass Rogue One in the coming weeks.

Lucasfilm now hold the highest US domestic gross for the past three years.

Internationally it sits third behind Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” which earned $1.26 billion around the world and Universal Pictures’ “Fate of the Furious” which brought in $1.24 billion. Remarkable given it has only been released for 17 days.
