A long-time fan of the series and an industry mover and shaker after her hit series Fleabag and Killing Eve and turns in the realms of Lucasfilm L3-37 in Solo and Helena in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Phoebe Waller-Bridge is set to write and produce a Tomb Raider series for Amazon, based on the iconic computer game character which first appeared in 1994.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s “Tomb Raider” has been ordered to series at Amazon‘s Prime Video. “Fleabag” creator Waller-Bridge will write and executive produce the show based on the iconic “Tomb Raider” video game franchise, which follows the adventures of archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft. The series was first reported as being in development at the streamer in January 2023. Amazon announced the “Tomb Raider” news out of its upfronts presentation Tuesday, which was held at the Pier 36 event space in New York City.

“If I could tell my teenage self this was happening I think she’d explode.,” Waller-Bridge said in a statement released shortly after the news was announced. “‘Tomb Raider’ has been a huge part of my life and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all.”
