Giddy up to the Harold Pinter Theater in London’s West End on 17th December as that’s the date when Denise Gough (Dedra Meero) and Billy Crudup (Doctor Manhattan in Watchmen) take to the stage(coach) for the world premiere of High Noon, adapted from the multiple Oscar-winning 1952 original starring Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly, a film that was one of the first 25 films preserved in the United States National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”.
The full cast is yet to be announced, but with Eric Roth involved (Oscar nominated six times for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay: Forrest Gump (1994), The Insider (1999), Munich (2005), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), A Star Is Born (2018), and Dune (2021)) and our own Denise Gough leading the charge, it looks set to be another smash hit.
From Oscar Award-winning screenwriter Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, Dune) and Olivier Award-winning Director Thea Sharrock (Equus – West End/Broadway, After the Dance) comes the world premiere of the play, High Noon.
This gripping new adaptation is Roth’s debut work for the stage – based on the iconic, four-time Oscar-winning 1952 film originally produced by Stanley Kramer, directed by Fred Zinnemann, with screenplay by Carl Foreman – hailed as one of the greatest westerns ever made. This isn’t just a play. It’s a wake-up call.Told in real time, this edge-of-your-seat thriller stars Tony and Emmy Award-winner Billy Crudup (The Morning Show, The Coast of Utopia) and Olivier Award- winner Denise Gough (Andor, People, Places & Things) with design by Tony and Olivier Award-winner Tim Hatley (Back to the Future: The Musical, The Life of Pi), lighting by Tony and Olivier Award-winner Neil Austin (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Born With Teeth) and music composed and produced by Chris Egan.
We had the good fortune to sit down with Denise and co-star Ben Mendelsohn earlier in the year ahead of the second season of Andor: A Star Wars Story.
