Jabba the Hutt puppeteer Toby Philpott is a guest of honour in an upcoming fan event in Poland! On June 26–27, 2026, the city of Siemianowice Śląskie will host the “Haja We Kosmosie: Wielki Reset” festival (which translates as ‘Haja in Space: The Great Reset’). The cosplay fan event is organized by the “Ostań Kim Chcesz” Association in partnership with the Siemianowice Cultural Center (SCK Zameczek). The festival is free for the public.
A primary highlight of the 2026 program is the participation of Toby Philpott, a British puppeteer known for his work on the original Star Wars trilogy. Philpott served as one of the three main puppeteers for Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi, specifically controlling the creature’s left arm, head, and tongue. His career also includes contributions to Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. This festival marks Philpott’s first appearance at a public event in Poland.
The festival itinerary begins on Friday, June 26, at 18:00 with a series of Polish language discussion panels at SCK Zameczek. These sessions will include presentations on the origins of the space opera genre by Marcin Ćwikliński, a Star Trek-focused panel led by Tomek Korusiewicz, and an exhibition of Star Wars-themed watercolors by Grzegorz Chudy.
The main activities commence on Saturday, June 27, at 11:30. The schedule includes panels featuring special guests such as book translator and Star Wars cosplayer Marta Duda-Gryc, location scout Dawid Kołosowski, and Łukasz Liszko. Throughout the venue, various exhibitions will display 1:1 scale figures, mechanical wooden models, and handcrafted scale models. The event also features a collection of film-replica vehicles, including the K.I.T.T. Pontiac Firebird from Knight Rider and the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo.
Costuming and reconstruction groups will have a strong presence, including the 501st Legion Polish Garrison, the Rebel Legion Eagle Base, and the Polish branch of the Mando Mercs. These organizations will be joined by lightsaber academies such as SaberArts Katowice and various historical and fantasy reconstruction groups.
The 2026 edition is also expected to feature a significant gathering of the Polish Star Trek community. Trekville, recognized as the oldest Star Trek club in Poland, is planning a major presence at the event. This gathering represents a unique intersection of the Star Wars and Star Trek fandoms within the Polish convention circuit.
The event takes place at SCK Zameczek, located at ul. Oświęcimska 1, Siemianowice Śląskie, Poland.
