Hard to believe it may be, but filming on Episode IX, the final chapter of the sequel trilogy and the 9 film Skywalker saga which began shooting in 1976, is now complete.

J.J. Abrams posted this tweet yesterday to mark the occasion.

With both Oscar Isaac and Daisy Ridley not present on social media it was up to John Boyega to tweet a heartfelt reply.

And Chewie himself Joonas Suotamo posted this on Facebook.

Expect more tweets to follow as Episode IX moves into post production and remember, at some point during the making of Episode IX, John Williams will score and conduct his last ever Star Wars music. That will be a bittersweet goodbye.
