With the arrival of the new two-volume book Doug Chiang – The Cinematic Legacy, looking at his remarkable career in film design at Lucasfilm, Adam Savage travels to the Lucasfilm Art Department to chat with Doug about that career and how he has helped bring the worlds and vehicles of the galaxy to life across three decades.

When George Lucas returned to Star Wars to make the Prequel Trilogy, he hired concept designer Doug Chiang to head up the art department responsible for interpreting his artistic vision and breathing new visual life into the Star Wars universe. Doug’s artistic journey is documented in a new two-volume book celebrating his cinematic legacy. Adam Savage visits Doug at Lucasfilm’s art department to talk about his career, discuss his design philosophies, and dive deep into his iconic creations.
