Behind the Attraction: George Lucas suggested the idea of a Rebel Spy onboard Star Tours

Today’s the day that the documentary series Behind The Attraction landed on Disney Plus, and amongst the fascinating knowledge nuggets revealed about Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion, Tower of Terror and Space Mountain, the third episode focuses on Star Tours, where Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald reveals that the much-loved concept of the Rebel Spy onboard each flight of the updated version of Star Tours was squeezed from the mind grapes of George Lucas.

“George wanted us to have a spy in the audience. What if, actually, we could take a picture of someone in the cabin and put it up on screen and really let a guest see themselves as a rebel spy.”
