Today the maestro John Williams celebrates his 87th birthday, another year where he continues to create musical wizardry and add glorious notes to a library of film scores that includes the Star Wars series, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, the Indiana Jones series, Home Alone, Hook, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List and Harry Potter.

Watch this once-in-a-lifetime moment, when the 40th anniversary panel at Celebration Orlando ended with the swish of a curtain to reveal the man himself (and a room full of happy tears).

He occupies the stratosphere of cinematic contributors who have not only changed the face of film but brought fresh ears to the medium. We could never hope to repay him for the magical moments he has and continues to bring us, so we will once again say thank you!
