A new report indicates that the Cassian Andor Disney + series was almost cancelled before Tony Gilroy came in to pen the pilot for the project.

According to Collider editor-in-chief Steven Weintraub, pre-production on the Disney+ series had been shuttered for weeks over dissatisfaction regarding the miniseries’ story and scripts. Before news of the cancellation went public, Tony Gilroy signed on to write the pilot episode for the series.

This comes after the author of the story about Gilroy joining the project, Joe Otterson, admitted that he was originally going to break the news that the project was not moving forward – before being informed that Gilroy had come on board.
