With the release date of the film only 14 months away, the producers of Indiana Jones 5 need to get a move on to bring what is likely to be Harrison Ford‘s final turn as the intrepid archaeologist to screens around the world next year, and news comes that part of that production will be filmed in the Highlands of Scotland.

Indiana Jones is heading to Scotland to film the latest movie in the hit franchise. Parts of the eagerly anticipated fifth instalment in the Indiana Jones series is to be shot in the Highlands later this year.

Harrison Ford is reprising his role as Indiana Jones in what is set to be his final appearance as the archaeologist. The filming means the star could make an appearance in Scotland but it’s yet to be confirmed. A source said: “It’s unclear if it will just be production staff but we think he will.”

Moviemakers plan to capture scenes of the hills and mountainous terrain for the upcoming Disney film. Pre-production shots are to begin in November, with a star-studded cast then expected to descend on the north of Scotland.

A source said: “Indiana Jones coming to Scotland is great news. Fans have waited years for this. Film crews are expected to start pre-production shots from mid November before cast arrive. Filming is expected to take from a few days to a week before things wrap up just before Christmas.”

Indiana Jones 5 is set for release in cinemas in July next year, more than four decades after Raiders Of The Lost Ark in 1981. Fleabag star and creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge is set to appear alongside Ford.
