Remembering River Phoenix 25 years on

It’s hard to believe that River Phoenix passed away a quarter of a century ago. Gone longer than he was alive, Phoenix packed a lot in to his brief 23 years including a star turn in Stand By Me and playing young Indiana Jones in the opening minutes of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Who knows what roles he would have gone on to inhabit – a bright future was certainly on the cards. Maybe he would have taken on the mantle of Indy from Harrison Ford, who’s son he also played in Peter Weir’s 1986 film The Mosquito Coast, we’ll never know.

Instead, let’s remember what we had and raise a glass to River Phoenix.
