It’s been a marquee year for Star Wars, celebrating its 40th anniversary as well as looking ahead to The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story. Step back 40 years and the world was a very different place. In the UK, Star Wars fever was building and yet the film hadn’t arrived. Word had filtered across the Atlantic that something very special was on the way and the BBC’s senior film critic, the late, great Barry Norman, took a look at the film on Film ’77, reviewing it in his own inimitable manner.
