One of the most fascinating elements of the entire The Last Jedi production was the documentary The Director and the Jedi. Giving us a deep insight into the making of the film, it illustrated the craft and care taken to bring Rian Johnson’s unique Star Wars vision to the screen, showing a team of hundreds constructing the 8th chapter in the Star Wars saga.

Here we see the red carpet and Q&A from earlier this year at SXSW, where Rian, Mark Hamill, Ram Bergman, Tylie Cox and Anthony Wonke discuss the film with moderator Alex Johnson and the SXSW audience.

The Director and The Jedi is an intimate documentary delving into Rian Johnson’s process as he comes in as a director new to the Star Wars universe. The film documents Johnson’s cast and crew and their individual challenges in bringing the film together, shows the goodbye to Carrie Fisher, and explores the significance of Rian’s more surprising decisions.

The documentary gives you a view of what it really was like to make “The Last Jedi”.

Speakers: Alex R Johnson, Mark Hamill, Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, Tylie Cox, Anthony Wonke
