The Empire Post Wrap: Mark Hamill talks added scene of ‘hope and rejuvenation’

In an era when any form of pick-up or reshoot signals certain doom for a film, it’s interesting to see that forty years ago The Empire Strikes Back went back to add an extra scene to its now iconic ending. The additional ILM shots of the Rebel fleet being added after the film premiered are well known, but these final moments of Luke and Leia together being filmed a full four months later isn’t. Here, Mark Hamill responds to a message online and explains the reasoning behind the addition of this key moment.
