While we’re still a few weeks away from the arrival of The Mandalorian and Grogu, with the latest issue of Empire Magazine landing on doormats this coming week, news is slim but about to start pouring into the GFFA like abs on a Hutt…well, if you’re Jabba’s son Rotta, somewhat changed since the last time we canonically saw him thirty years before in The Clone Wars movie back in 2008. Speaking with voice actor Jeremy Allen White (“My speaking voice changes. It was helpful, of course, to listen to Jabba”) and director Jon Favreau (“[Rotta’s] in top form, fighting in the pits, a gladiator of sorts“) little is given away, but plenty is teased; this is a Hutt unlike any you’ve seen before.

Favreau likens the character to Adonis ‘Donnie’ Creed in the Creed movies, a character living in their father’s shadow. “When you’re trying to establish yourself and your name is famous, when you’re Jabba The Hutt’s kid, what does that do?” the director queries. “How has that affected his trajectory? I get a kick out of that.” Get ready to meet a Hutt like no other.
