Star Wars: Forces of Destiny is for anyone who has been inspired by Leia’s heroism, Rey’s courage, or Ahsoka’s tenacity….We’re thrilled that so many of the original actors are reprising their roles in these shorts which capture the small moments and everyday decisions that shape who these characters are.

It is a fun new way for people to experience Star Wars.

Since its debut at Celebration Orlando, the Star Wars Forces of Destiny Micro series has captivated audiences telling stories from across multiple eras of the Star Wars saga. The series is now on its 4th comic and this one tells the story of Ahsoka and Padme.

The episode of FoD that this comic was based on “The Imposter Inside” was uploaded to the Star Wars Forces Of Destiny YouTube channel in July 2017. The short was around 2 minutes long and told the story of Ahsoka revealing a shape shifter posing as a handmaiden, who was determined to scupper important negotiations between Padmé and an Arthurian delegation wishing to join the Republic.

The comic, written by Beth Revis follows the style and quick pace of the animated shorts, it tells the full story behind this encounter with the shape shifter.

The story begins with a Ahsoka and her friend Barriss Offee sparing in a training duel, which ends in Ahsoka’s victory but at what cost? While meditating Ahsoka is interrupted by Padmé who persuades a reluctant Ahsoka to join her to secure her apartment for an important meeting. This gives Ahsoka the opportunity to try to put her theory and training into practice.

Padme briefs her staff about the Arthurian Delegation and their customs from their homeworld so they feel welcome and will hopefully join the Republic. This explains how Ahsoka knew about the utensils in the animated short and also reveals how hard and sometimes lonely the job of defending the Republic can be.

A battle ensues between Ahsoka and the shape shifter, which ultimately ends with the Shapeshifter being revealed however it manages to escape.

The FOD animated short finished abruptly, with staff invited to the Delegation’s dinner, again the comic gives embelishes the ending giving it humour and an explanation.

This comic is a great addition to the Forces Of Destiny series explaining the background to the 2 minute clips originally uploaded to YouTube. The artwork is amazing and follows the style of the animation shorts. Although the title says Ahsoka and Padmé, the story lies firmly with Ahsoka, Padmé is seen more as a catalyst in this story who helps Ahsoka on her path to become a Jedi

This comic is a must for Forces Of Destiny collectors and Ahsoka fans in particular, for those hardcore comic fans this story and style may not be the norm however it reveals the angst and doubt that Ahsoka sometimes had at this period of her life and can we see how it shapes her future.
