Star Wars: Rogue One – Jyn Erso #1

The Wobani Gambit

As the Empire sows chaos across the galaxy, JYN ERSO has been left to left to rot in the notorious labor camp on Wobani.

Having lost her mother and the one true love of her life, having been betrayed by her father and cast aside by her mentor, Saw Gerrera, Jyn has little reason to believe she can escape her sentence.

But hope can can grow in even the most desolate of places….

Writer: Ethan Sacks
Artists: Ramon Rosanas
Letterer: Travis Lanham
Colorist: Guru e-FX
Cover artist: David Marquez
Editor: Mark Pannicia
Publication date: June 3 2026

Jumping from Cassian Andor in his one-off Marvel comic on Kafrene to Jyn Erso on Wobani, the pressure continues to build in the lives of individuals who will eventually come together to give the galaxy a chance to escape the rule of The Empire.

Jyn is hardened by loss and abandonment, and her one-off story, as part of the 10th Anniversary Rogue One Star Wars Story, only reinforces who she is—but with a slight hint of what she will become.

A nightmare flashback directly from Lah’mu gets the story, written by Ethan Sacks, started with scenes fans will remember from the film. Then she wakes with her cellmate, the Blutopian Oolin Musters, still asleep, and the story shows more of her day-to-day living nightmare as an inmate of Imperial Detention Center & Labor Camp LEG-817.

She is breaking rocks in the gutted surface of Wobani, within its poisonous atmosphere, where Imperials wear oxygen masks but leave the prisoners to deal with the issues for as long as they can survive it. Jyn is surprised to be recognized as one of her aliases, Liana Hallik, by another inmate and makes it clear she has no interest in being that person while in the prison camp.

Days pass, and as the crimes against inmates add up—and persistence from the internal group of prisoners who have the making of an escape plan hammer away at her—Jyn goes all in. The small group fights but meets resistance, especially as the Empire gets its weapons online.

There should be no surprise that Jyn considers sacrificing herself and her freedom for someone else. We know what she chooses on Scarif—but what decision does she make here?
