Adam Savage has his R2-D2 on display at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, and here he explains how the astromech was prepared for display at this iconic aviation location.

While visiting Smithsonian’s ‪@airandspace‬ Museum recently, Adam Savage stopped by the Futures in Space exhibition to visit an old friend, his R2-D2. Curator Matt Shindell gets the story behind R2’s multiyear build — started when Adam was working at ILM and had access to the original Kenny Baker model — and explains just how he and his team prepared R2 for its long-term display!
