Ed Asner, Jabba the Hutt in the Return of the Jedi Radio Drama has died

Ed Asner, the voice of Jabba the Hutt in the NPR Return of the Jedi radio drama and Jedi Master Vrook Lamar in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 has passed away aged 91. With an incredible CV of work dating back to the mid 50’s and right up to the present day and the hit series Cobra Kai, he passed away peacefully this morning.

Eddie Asner (November 15, 1929 – August 29, 2021), also credited as Edward Asner, was an American actor and voice actor who voices Jabba the Hutt in the radio version of Return of the Jedi and Jedi Master Vrook Lamar in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel.

He is best known for his role as Lou Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spinoff, Lou Grant. The two shows gave him the distinction of being the only actor to win an Emmy Award for playing the same character on both a thirty minute sitcom and a sixty minute drama.
