HBO network president Casey Bloys has been discussing the delays on forthcoming series Confederacy, a show being overseen by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. It appears that its progress has been hindered somewhat by Benioff and Weiss working on another high-profile franchise.

“Dan and David are finishing up the final season [of Game of Thrones] and then they are going to go into the Star Wars universe,” Bloys told TVLine Friday. “When they come out of that, I assume they will come back to us.”

And an interesting line from Bloys regarding just how many films they are making.

“The delay has to do with [the fact] that they were offered three movies,”

The perceived wisdom had them working on a pair of films, but given the GFFA’s fondness for trilogies it appears that the minds behind Game of Thrones – which is littered with Star Wars performers – are doing it old school. Right now, Episode IX is the prime focus for Lucasfilm and Disney, while The Mandalorian shoots its first season for Disney+, so don’t expect to hear much about this series of films until next year.
