Tabletop roleplay and Star Wars have a long and storied history together, from West End Games iconic Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game (1987 to 1999), through to Wizards of the Coasts Star Wars Roleplaying Game (2000 to 2010), and finally to Fantasy Flight Games and their three RPG adventures (Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion and Force and Destiny) from 2012 to 2020. Now, Wizards are back, but this time they’re bringing the granddaddy of RPG with them as D&D | Star Wars brings us their summer 2027 Star Wars expansion, part of their “Season of Rebellion“. New York Comic Con saw the official announcement, with more to come at Star Wars Celebration in April, and here Gizmodo take a dip into the D20 waters of this exciting new expansion.

At Friday’s first New York Comic-Con panel, Wizards released artwork for the Tyro Squadron campaign. Narratively, players are members of a secret Rebel crew during the Original Trilogy. Like other Rebellion cells, Tyro will “fly daring missions, explore new corners of the galaxy, and help shape the Rebellion’s story” with a new core rulebook flavored specifically for the sci-fi universe.

There are plenty of Fantha team members chomping at the bit to play this, so stay tuned as we plan on playing the heck out of this game.
