On 23rd April 1996, the music inspired by Shadows of the Empire scored by Young Indiana Jones Chronicles composer Joel McNeely was released, and as we approach an unbelievable 30 years since we first head that music the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) mark the occasion with this post showing the beautiful Drew Struzan artwork that adorned so many Shadows prodcuts across the summer of ’96 and the score being recorded by the RSNO along with the RSNO Chorus who so powerfully conveyed the words of Dha Werda Verda , written by Ben Burtt.

First performed publicly by the RSNO and conductor McNeely on 3rd March 1996 at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow, three tracks were performed along with a selection of wider film scores, bringing McNeely back from behind the curtain for five encores. We’d like to think much of that was for Shadows, and we’ll be certain to talk plenty more about this amazing period in Star Wars history next year when we celebrate 30 years of Shadows of the Empire.
