With filming just a few months away, the cast continues to expand on the as yet untitled fifth Indiana Jones film as Avengers: Age of Ultron actor Thomas Kretschmann joins the cast which now includes Mads Mikkelsen and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

The German actor’s exact role in the much-anticipated sequel is yet to be confirmed, according to The Wrap.

Kretschmann is best known for playing the villainous Baron Wolfgang von Strucker in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

James Mangold will direct the new movie, marking the first time that Steven Spielberg won’t lead one of the franchise’s films, but Spielberg will still work as a producer. Mangold has previously directed movies such as Walk the Line and Girl, Interrupted.

The release date of Indiana Jones 5 has been changed several times. Originally, there was a summer release date set for July 2019, then it got pushed to July 2020 and then July 2021. But there is now a slotted date of July 29, 2022.

Hopefully, Lucasfilm will consider a This Week In Star Wars style show to hype the return of the man in the hat.
